Performing Arts Medicine & Esports Medicine Admission Requirements
- Graduate Application for Admission and $30 Application Fee
- Unofficial or official transcripts
- Applicants can choose to submit unofficial transcripts for initial review. If admitted, the applicant must submit an official transcript for each unofficial transcript upload. See our full policy for more details.
- All transcripts from non-U.S.-based institutions must be course-by-course evaluated by a NACES or AICE accredited academic credential evaluation company to obtain equivalency information on courses, grades, and degrees earned. Upload a copy of this course-by-course evaluation to serve as your unofficial transcript from that institution. Please note: If choosing to upload an unofficial evaluation, please contact the evaluating agency to ensure the same official version can be sent at a later date. Unofficial and official evaluations must be conducted by the same evaluation company to ensure consistency.
- Copy of Professional License
- This is waived for current SU students in other graduate health profession pathways, who must submit a letter of support from their respective program director/dean and a personal statement (see details below).
- Language Proficiency Requirement must be met. Submission of TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo English Test (DET) may be required. See our policy for full details.
- Applicants currently enrolled in another health professions graduate program at Shenandoah University must also provide:
- Personal statement addressed to the program director requesting admission and indicating how this program will help advance their professional goals
- Letter of Recommendation from the current Dean or Program Director supporting their application to the certificate program.
- After you complete all the fields in the application and hit the “Submit” button, you will be asked to input contact details and an email will be sent directly to the faculty member to submit a letter of recommendation
Performing Arts Health & Fitness and Esports Health & Fitness Admission Requirements
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, health science, or a related degree approved by the Program Director.
- Performing Arts Health & Fitness: dance, dance education, musical theater, dance science, music (education, therapy, or performance), and dance movement therapy majors are also accepted as relevant degree areas.

- Prerequisite courses: Anatomy I (4 credits) and one of the following: Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or Exercise Physiology (3 credits)
- Course substitutions can be approved by the Program Director. Submission of the following credentials may substitute for the required prerequisite courses: CPT, Licensed Massage Therapist, or NSCA CSCS
- Copy of Current US license (if applicable) to practice massage therapy or updated Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) or NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
