Outside Scholarships
Students are strongly encouraged to pursue scholarships from outside the university. Your home community and the Internet can be great potential sources for a scholarship. Also, do not stop applying for scholarships once you have been enrolled at Shenandoah University. Outside scholarship opportunities will continue to become available throughout your academic career.
If you receive scholarships from outside of Shenandoah University, please make our office aware by reporting them by selecting the “Report/View Outside Awards” tab from the menu in Hornet Hub.
Students are encouraged to apply to outside scholarships with alternative emails, unless otherwise required. Some outside scholarships will use the email that you submit for marketing purposes.

Striving Solo Parent Scholarship
- $1,000 scholarship awarded
- Aimed to help a single parent who is returning to school to pursue a college degree.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college within the United States for the Fall 2024 semester.
- Applicant achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher in their most recently completed academic semester
- Must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States.

Overcoming Disability Scholarship
- $2,500 scholarship
- Available to college students who are managing a disability while attending school
- Will be attending an accredited college or university for the Spring 2024 semester and will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program when the award is received

Moving Forward Scholarship
- $2,500 scholarship
- Must be at least 17 years of age and hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Applicant must have a criminal history (Felony and Misdemeanor offenses, not infractions or minor traffic violations) and are trying to change their life for the better.

- Applicant must be a first-generation college student (meaning neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree)

- $1,000 scholarship
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited university or college within the United States
- The student must be either a first or second generation immigrant living in the United States.
- The student’s family must be considered to be low-income, with an annual household income of less than $50,000.
- The student must have a GPA of 4.0 or higher in their most recently completed academic semester.

The Synchrony Tech Scholarship
- $500 – 5,000 scholarships available
- Supports autistic adults interested in obtaining technology-related certifications in cybersecurity, game/app development, web development, machine learning, data analytics, cloud computing, ethical hacking, and artificial intelligence.
- Open to all autistic adults 18 years of age or older who are eligible to work in the United States.
- Applicant must have a documented medical or educational autism diagnosis
